Case Studies of Partnerships with Trócaire

VISA Trócaire, Supermac’s and VISA rollout tap-to-donate boxes around Ireland

Trócaire has partnered with Visa to rollout of 50 new ‘cashless’ Trócaire boxes, which are available in 11 Supermacs outlets across Ireland . The initiative is a collaboration with VISA, who have provided investment and research support for the project, which is the first nationwide retail tap-to-donate rollout in Ireland.
The traditional Trócaire Box is Ireland’s largest annual fundraising campaign and raises approximately €5 million in cash donations each year, funding Trócaire’s overseas programmes. However, the rates of cash transactions across Ireland are decreasing steadily each year as contactless payment figures continue to rise. Trócaire has developed its ‘tap-to-donate’ box over a number of years to provide reliable alternatives to cash donations.

Supermac's

As Ireland changes and embraces contactless payments charities have to keep in step with donor behaviour. However this takes research and investment which is often beyond the means of many charitable organisations. We are grateful that Pat & Una McDonagh and the Supermacs team have supported this project since it began. This year the added investment and expertise from Visa has given us the technology and information to roll out these boxes nationwide, which we could not have done without this support.”

Cause Related Marketing

Cause-related marketing or CRM, is a proven way to build customer loyalty and trust, drive sales and increase employee satisfaction. According to a 2017 Cone Communications CSR Study, 87% of those surveyed will purchase a product because a company advocated for an issue they care about. From joint campaigns to point of sale purchases, we would love to talk to you about how we can collaborate to create a mutually beneficial partnership.
We recognise that each company is different in the support they can offer. To find out how we can best work together to make a lasting change, get in touch with Niamh Dockery, details below.

Cause Related Marketing Examples

Masks that Matter

Masks that Matter is a new cause related marketing initiative selling sustainable cotton barrier masks to be used as an added layer of protection in light of the current Covid-19 pandemic. Profits from the initiative are being split between Trócaire, the Irish Hospice Foundation and the Marie Keating Foundation.

Irish Fashion Designer Aideen Bodkin founded Masks that Matter in March after selling out of a limited edition collection of Liberty Print face masks, with all proceeds from the first edition being donated to the Irish Hospice Foundation.

The Masks that Matters campaign aims to increase awareness of the need to keep people protected when out in public, while also highlighting the shortfall in charity donations in recent months. Aideen wanted to produce a range of sustainable masks that were accessible and affordable to all, while also supporting Irish charities.

Masks that matter are available to buy on www.aideenbodkin.com where more information on the masks and the charities involved can be found.

Myself and Una believe we can and should help where we can. We trust Trócaire and the approach they take. We know we are making a difference to the lives of ordinary people living in poverty and fear in Africa and beyond – mother’s, father’s children, grandparents.
