Promising Practices Malawi Rwanda

Since 2012 Trócaire's Livelihoods experts have implemented rainwater harvesting and water resources management projects in Rwanda and Malawi with support from the Scottish Government’s Climate Justice Fund. This short analysis of the two projects tells stories of changed diets and less drudgery and well as providing tables and charts to help the technically inclined to choose water technologies for their situations using a range of criteria. In Malawi the household water technologies and  soil and water conservation practices led to healthier yields, soils and ecosystems while in Rwanda “All water technologies had a positive impact on household resilience in terms of income and food production. The extent of this impact varied greatly between households and communities.”
