European Migration Crisis: Failing Policies, Fatal Journeys

Over the past 15 years around 22,000 men, women and children have drowned in the Mediterranean Sea. The vast majority of these people were fleeing conflict and poverty, many from countries where Trócaire works – Syria, Iraq, Somalia and South Sudan.

Published 28 August 2015, this briefing paper outlines the short and long-term actions that Trócaire believes must be taken by Ireland and the EU in response to this crisis.
