Parishes

Greetings from the Church Team

Trócaire works with parishes and communities across the island of Ireland to educate, inspire and motivate people to take action for global justice. We are supported in this work by Bishops, priests, pastoral workers and parishioners in every diocese. On his visit to Ireland in August 2018, Pope Francis spoke of the need to “forge a future of freedom and dignity, justice and solidarity”.

Trócaire produces a range of resources for use in your parish or community group. We also visit parishes to deliver workshops and talks. We help people to explore the connection between their faith and taking action for justice.

Below you will find resources for November and December 2024. If you cannot find the resource you are looking for, please contact us by emailing:

Remembrance Month and Advent 2024

November is traditionally a time for remembering those who have died. This November we remember all those connected to our Trócaire family, especially our former CEO, Justin Kilcullen.

We also remember in a special way, all those who have died in various conflicts in our world this year, particularly in Gaza. During this month of remembrance, we encourage parishes to incorporate prayers for peace into their annual remembrance services and you will find a dedicate prayer resource for this below.

This month also sees COP29, the UN Climate Conference, take place in Baku, Azerbaijan from November 11th – 22nd 2024. We are encouraging parishes to host prayer services for COP locally, to pray and to act for Our Common Home. A prayer service for COP29 is available below.

In December, we welcome the Season of Advent, a season of Hope, Peace, Joy and Love. Our resource “Cultivating Hope in Advent” has some interesting ideas to help bring Care for Creation into our Advent celebrations.
