Six months after narrowly escaping a devastating mudslide that killed 1,000 people, Kumba (7) is appearing in one million homes and schools all over Ireland as the face of Trócaire's Lenten campaign.
We have received heart-breaking messages from people we work with Damascus who are living in fear as bombs fall all around them.
"Our colleagues are trying to stay alive with their families in the dark and ill-equipped shelter," said one message. "The shelters are not supplied with enough water or food, and children have not seen sunshine for weeks."
Trócaire has joined leading human rights organisations to write an open letter to the European Union calling on the EU to condemn political violence in Honduras and demand that the Honduran government stops using excessive force on demonstrators.
