Trócaire chosen as charity partner for Mater Private Network’s golf classic

Trócaire are delighted to be chosen as the charity partner of the Mater Private Network for their upcoming golf classic event on June 12th 2023 at the fantastic Druid’s Glen golf course in Co. Wicklow. It promises to be a wonderful day.

The money raised will go directly to Trócaire’s health work in Somalia where Trócaire runs the main healthcare and hospital support system available to people in the Gedo region – an area similar in size to Ireland. In this region, Trócaire runs four hospitals (currently building our fifth), five health centres, three TB centres, eleven primary health units and seven mobile clinics, supporting severely malnourished children and pregnant mums.

Trócaire treats an average of 22,000 people per month at their hospitals and clinics. Somalia is currently experiencing its worst drought in four decades. It is estimated that nearly eight million people are threatened by starvation, half of Somalia’s children are now malnourished and at least one child dies every day. The number of malnourished children presenting at Trócaire health facilities has more than trebled in recent months.
