Supermac’s announce €50,000 raised for Trócaire in 2019

Supermac’s and Supermac’s customers raised €50,000 for the company’s chosen charity, Trócaire, in 2019. The figure was raised by a combination of donations at the 116 restaurants throughout the country as well as a gala dinner that was held in the Lough Rea Hotel in Spa before Christmas. The cheque was presented by the company at an event in the Castletroy Park Hotel in Limerick on Tuesday night (January 21st).

Trócaire canisters are placed at each till in 116 Supermac’s Family Restaurants around the country. Supermac’s and its customers have donated €600,000 to Trócaire over the past few years.

“Trócaire is a charity very close to myself and Una’s heart,” Supermac’s MD, Pat Mc Donagh said, “and we are delighted to support the work. We trust Trócaire and know that our support goes to where it is needed the most. Our family and teams across the organisation have seen for ourselves Trócaire’s work on the ground in Africa and Central America. It is devastating to see the levels of poverty and we are proud to support their ongoing work in alleviating the challenges on the ground. We would like to thank our customers, suppliers and the entire Supermac’s family for their fantastic contributions to the charity.”

Trócaire is delighted to work with Supermac’s as their loyal charity of choice who have supported the charity for over 30 years. In that 30 years Supermacs have donated over €600,000 to Trócaire.

Caoimhe de Barra CEO of Trócaire said: “We are honoured to receive the support of Supermacs for many years. The McDonagh family, Supermac’s Franchises and all of the hardworking teams across the Supermac’s group work tirelessly all year round to raise funds to support some of the most vulnerable communities in Zimbabwe who are struggling to survive. By providing boreholes, wells and seed tools and training we are giving people a hand up to help them grow enough food to eat.”
