Ready to support Indonesia relief

The tsunami hit on December 22nd in the Sunda Strait region. So far, at least 281 people are confirmed dead but there are fears that the number will rise.

There are also fears that landslides, or possibly even further tsunamis, may strike over the coming days.

Rescue efforts are being hampered by blocked roads but heavy lifting equipment is being transported to badly hit areas to help search for victims.

Trócaire works with Caritas Indonesia and has provided funds to help relief efforts when disasters have struck Indonesia in the past.

Earlier in 2018 Caritas Indonesia supported survivors of the tsunami and earthquake which killed more than 1,500 people in Palu. They provided food, water, shelter and medical support.

Caritas Indonesia is assessing the current situation and is preparing to respond if necessary. Trócaire will be ready to provide funds to support those relief efforts.

You can donate to the Indonesia relief effort. All donations will go directly to providing support for families in Indonesia.
