The National Ploughing Championships takes place next week at Ratheniska, Co. Laois and Trócaire will be right at the heart of it! Running from Tuesday the 17th of September to Thursday the 19th, the Ploughing Championships brings together people and organisations from across Ireland for three days of festival fun.

This year, we are excited to announce Trócaire’s participation at the Global Solidarity Hub Marquee, supported by Irish Aid. The marquee is a unique space which will bring together six leading Irish Charities – Trócaire, Self Help Africa, Concern Worldwide, Worldview Dóchas, Brighter Communities Worldwide and Sightsavers Ireland – united by a common mission: to tackle the root causes of poverty and injustice around the world.

Experience Climate Justice in Action with Trócaire

At Trócaire, we have long been committed to fighting the devastating effects of climate injustice. The communities we work with across the Global South are often the hardest hit by climate change, despite contributing the least to its causes. Rising sea levels, extreme weather events, and prolonged droughts are just a few of the challenges these communities face daily. Our work focuses on helping these communities adapt to changing climates, advocating for policies that protect the most vulnerable, and raising awareness about the urgent need for global climate justice.

During the National Ploughing Championships, we invite you to visit our area of the Global Solidarity Hub where you can learn mor e about how Trócaire is making a difference. Through our interactive games and activities, we will share information on the most common myths surrounding climate change and provide a space to take action to fight for and show solidarity with those affected by the climate crisis.
