Development Education

Development Education is an active and creative educational process to increase awareness and understanding of the world we live in. It challenges perceptions and stereotypes by encouraging optimism, participation and action.

Trócaire’s Development Education team help to inform learners about global issues such as poverty, injustice, gender equality and climate change using a human rights lens. Through our resources, competitions, workshops and other activities, we engage children, young people and educators in a learning journey on global justice issues. We encourage young people to make a connection between their own lives and global issues, and to play an active role as global citizens for a more just world.

Trócaire’s Development Education team have developed free resources to support educators in exploring global justice issues with their class or youth group. You can find our most recent resource on Water Justice here. You can find all of our free resources on global justice issues here, including resources that explore what global justice means and how it impacts on the lives of young people.  There are resources available for use in Early Years, Junior Primary, Senior Primary, Post Primary and Youth settings.

Our resources are best viewed on a laptop, desktop or tablet

We also deliver a games based learning programme called Game Changers and a documentary film making programme called The Right Focus.
