Trócaire’s Humanitarian Policy & Strategy

Trócaire’s Strategic Framework 2016 – 2020 outlines our commitment to improve the quality and scale of our humanitarian work.

Humanitarian response is a distinct aspect of Trócaire’s work, critical in striving to reach our development goals and a key priority for our partners who are increasingly challenged to respond to man-made or natural disasters.

The below Policy & Strategy document outlines our approach and the focus of our humanitarian responses for 2016 - 2020.

The Handbook document, available in English, French and Spanish, reflects the determination of Trócaire to improve our effectiveness as a humanitarian partner, the quality of our humanitarian assistance and our accountability to all stakeholders.

It is imperative that staff of Trócaire are equipped with the skills, knowledge and tools to support our partners to respond to humanitarian crises. All countries where Trócaire works are susceptible to humanitarian crises, and staff and partners are sometimes suddenly called upon to assist those in need.

The handbook is a key tool to help us to support good quality responses with the aim of making a difference to the lives of people affected by disaster.
