Policy and Programmes
11 Nov 2013
The 2009 Trócaire Development Review looks at one specific aspect in the development model, the role of business, and asks “where next?”
Topics under discussion include which international frameworks can be applied and enforced in the Irish and international context to hold businesses accountable to development outcomes, potential initiatives to guide corporate actors, including an examination on how the National Pension Reserve fund (NPRF) in Ireland could be utilised to this end, and ways to deal with dynamic role of financial flows on development.
Finally, several recently-published key texts on development are reviewed including Success from the Bottom Up: Moving out of Poverty series by Deepa Narayan, Lant Pritchett and Soumya Kapoor, and The Broker Magazine published by the Foundation for International Development Publications.
