Trócaire Development Review 1995

The 1995 Trócaire Development Review examines and critically evaluates the activities of NGOs in development work globally.  
 
Topics under discussion include new challenges faced by northern NGOs, the activities of international NGOs during their humanitarian interventions in complex emergencies, NGO network-building and collaboration with government, sustainable long-term development activities, governance and economy in post-intervention Somalia, priority issues for Ireland's 1996 European Union (EU) presidency, and an assessment of the Fourth World Conference on Women held in Beijing. 
 
In addition, several recently-published key texts on development are reviewed including the World Development Report 1995: Workers in an Integrating World by the World Bank, the Human Development Report 1995 and Beyond the Vienna Impasse.
 
Book reviews include Rwanda and Genocide in the Twentieth Century by Alain Destexhe, Mercy Under Fire - War and Global Humanitarian Community by Larry Minear and Thomas C. About the Trócaire Development Review
The Review draws together policy analysis and research finding with a particular relevance to Ireland's evolving role in international development. Articles are on economic, social and political themes relating to poverty and injustice in the developing world.
