Trócaire Development Review 1992

The 1992 Trócaire Development Review explores a range of topics related to trade, migration, gender equality and child poverty, with a particular focus on Irish activities in these areas. These discussions include an examination of the Irish textile industry in the wake of trade liberalisation following the Uruguay Round negotiations, Irish foreign policy and the UN General Assembly, the experiences of street children in Ireland and Sudan, efforts to mainstream women in development, and the European asylum policy. 
 
In addition, several recently-published key texts on development-related topics are reviewed including the World Development Report 1992 by the World Bank, Development Co-Operation: Efforts and Policies of the Members of the Development Assistance Committee by the OECD, The State of the World's Children 1992 by James P. Grant, and the Human Development Report 1992 
 
Book reviews include Deterring Democracy by Noam Chomsky, The Gulf War and the New World Order by Haim Bresheeth and Nira Yuval-Davis, and Beyond the Gulf War: The Middle East and the New World Order by John Gittings.

The Review draws together policy analysis and research finding with a particular relevance to Ireland's evolving role in international development. Articles are on economic, social and political themes relating to poverty and injustice in the developing world.
