Transformation With Technology: Pilot Rainwater-Harvesting and Community-Based Climate Change Adaptation Project, Rwanda

This short paper, prepared for the Rural Water Supply Network (RWSN) Forum 2017, describes an 18-month pilot project in nine villages in upland Rwanda providing technologies for rainwater harvesting from roofs and ground catchments. The purpose was to increase small-scale farmers’ resilience to climate change with a particular focus on homestead vegetable gardening using harvested water.

Accompanied by local partner organisations, Trócaire is presenting work from Malawi, Rwanda and Zimbabwe at the RWSN forum in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire (29 Nov - 2 Dec, 2016). The purpose of the forum is to provide learning opportunities to raise capacity in water resources management in participating countries.
