Climate action in Ireland needs a massive shake up. It is completely out of step with the ambition of the Paris Agreement and is insufficient to meet even our existing EU targets.

This paper makes recommendations for the Irish Government on what it needs to do to honour its commitments on reducing carbon emissions, divest from, and end subsidies to, the fossil fuel industry.

It also provides detailed social and political contextual information on the global divestment movement and the impacts of climate change in developing countries.
