Putting Localisation into Practice in Sierra Leone: Learning from the ‘Strengthening the Capacity of Local Organisations to Respond Effectively in Emergencies (SCORE)’ Programme, reflects on Trócaire’s work to help build the humanitarian capacity of two of its local frontline partners, AAD-SL and KADDRO.
Trócaire has supported these organisations on a transformative journey, from being relatively small in size and scope with limited access to funding in 2013, to delivering their first humanitarian response interventions during the West African Ebola crisis, to today, leading on the COVID-19 response across various districts.
The document captures key achievements and lessons learned from Trócaire’s capacity building programme and offers recommendations for how to best support various elements of localisation, within and beyond Sierra Leone.
