Ireland has a long established, well respected and important role to play in Africa as an 'honest broker' in politics and development. In the context of significant international trends towards a greater emphasis on 'private sector for development,' this briefing paper provides a series of recommendations about how Ireland should frame future trade promotion and engagement with the private sector in order to maximise the impact on reducing poverty and injustice in Africa.
