On 16th February Trócaire co-hosted a workshop with Maynooth University and St Patricks College on ethical investment and climate justice. In recognition of the rapidly growing global ‘fossil fuel divestment movement’ the workshop explored the scientific, moral and financial arguments for withdrawing individual, institutional and State investments in the fossil fuel industry, and how this can form a key component of climate justice advocacy on the Island of Ireland.
Speakers included Mark Campanale, who established the ‘carbon bubble’ concept and founded the Carbon Tracker Initiative, as well as a range of Irish experts and activists.
