For almost half a century, Israel has maintained a military occupation of the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT). Serious abuses are happening on an almost daily basis in the West Bank and Gaza.
Due to military bombardments and an ongoing blockade, 80% of people in Gaza depend on aid to survive. In the West Bank, Palestinian homes are being demolished. Land is being confiscated. Illegal settlements are being built on stolen land.
With your support, Trócaire works in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and Israel to support those affected by conflict to access justice.
We also help to raise international awareness around access to justice. In Ireland, we have an ongoing campaign to end trade with illegal Israeli settlements.

For over half a century Israel has maintained a military occupation of Palestinian land (the West Bank and Gaza).
Israel continues to displace Palestinian communities by force. Their land is often confiscated, a practice which has been ongoing for over six decades. Israeli settlements have been built on confiscated Palestinian land. This is despite settlements being illegal under international law.
Palestinians remain without a state and violations occur on an almost daily basis. These include house demolitions, land confiscation, forced displacement, restrictions of movement and violence against civilians.
In 2014, entire neighbourhoods in Gaza were destroyed by Israeli military attacks. Almost 1,500 Palestinian civilians and four Israeli civilians were killed.
Due to three major bombardments by Israeli forces in the last decade and an ongoing crippling economic blockade, the humanitarian situation is extremely challenging in Gaza:
Most people in Gaza are trapped, they cannot leave this small area in order to access healthcare, education or to work in other countries. Only limited supplies of goods can enter or leave.
Violence targeting Israeli citizens is also an abuse of fundamental freedoms. The security of both Israelis and Palestinians are dependent on each other. Peace for Israelis and Palestinians cannot be achieved without justice for all.
Trócaire has worked in Israel and the OPT since 2002. Trócaire seeks to build a lasting and just peace in the region based on access to justice for all.
We provide protection and support to people affected by conflict and violations. We work together with both Israeli and Palestinian partner organisations to build peace, raise awareness, and promote access to justice.
As well as providing emergency aid and supporting communities on the ground, we advocate and campaign in Ireland and the EU to take stronger action to protect the rights of Palestinian communities and for Israel to uphold international law.
