Crisis in Darfur, SudanPrinter-friendly version

A crisis is gripping Darfur, Sudan.

Conflict in the Darfur region of western Sudan has caused millions of people to flee their homes.

According to the United Nations, over 200,000 people are estimated by the United Nations to have died as a result of the violence.

The violence, deprivation, and suffering in Darfur continues unabated. Conflict in the region has claimed over 200,000 lives, caused the displacement of an estimated 2.5 million people, and left over 4 million people dependent on humanitarian aid.

What we're doing

We're working with Caritas International and Action of Churches Together to target 500,000 Internally Displaced People (IDPs) under its Emergency Response Programme in Darfur. We are also working throughout Sudan to rebuild a society devastated by conflict. By working with local partners who fully understand the needs of a community, we know how to help people in the best way possible.
