Haiti Drop the DebtPrinter-friendly version

So where is Haiti at now in terms of its debts?

Some good news, some bad..... Haiti’s debt crisis has taken many positive turns in the last couple of months but much more needs to happen for Haiti to be free of the burden of debt and in a position to move forward with its own development.

Most Haiti lenders have cancelled Haiti’s debt, but the International Monetary Fund (IMF) scandalously has not. Haiti owes US$271 million to the IMF. Ireland can do something about this. Ireland has a voice on the Executive Board of the IMF. We are represented on the Board by Canada. We must ensure that Canada insists, on Ireland’s behalf, that Haiti’s outstanding debt is cancelled immediately.

How you can help: Please take a minute to send the email below to the Canadian Minister for Finance Jim Flaherty and Canadian Minister for Foreign Affairs Lawrence Canon.  Let’s keep the pressure on the IMF to cancel all of Haiti’s debts immediately.
