Trócaire works in partnership with local agencies to overcome poverty and to promote justice in developing countries. We support long-term development work and respond to humanitarian crisis in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Our overseas work is divided into six regions, Southern Africa, Horn & East Africa, Central & West Africa, South East Asia, Latin America and Central & South Asia, within these regions we work in a total of 25 priority countries. Trócaire employs over 170 staff overseas working our six key thematic programmes.
In Ireland Trócaire employs over 130 staff throughout our offices in Belfast, Dublin, Cork and at our head office in Maynooth. At home Trócaire raises awareness of the needs of people in the development world and our responsibility towards them through development education, campaigns, fundraising and communications.
Trócaire staff are professional, committed and effective in delivering our work. We value this level of commitment and contribution and make every effort to work with staff so that each person can contribute and develop to the best of their ability. We offer prospective employees a professional, high-performance yet supportive and caring environment where teamwork, initiative and creativity are encouraged.
Trócaire continuously strives to be an employer of choice for talented, skilled and passionate professionals working in development. Over the last ten years we have gained awards and recognition for best practice from various institutions including “Excellence Through People” and “Best Places to Work”.
Trócaire is a member of “People in Aid”, an international network of development and humanitarian assistance agencies. Why I enjoy working for Trócaire
Some quotes from our staff:
“Working for Trócaire is not a job, it is really a life choice. In a world that is so blighted by poverty degradation and denial of peoples’ rights, working to create a better world remains a constant privilege. While some of the work can be difficult and everyday is faced with many challenges, it is inspiring to work with communities who are striving to overcome, to create anew and to forget a better future. Really there is no better job on earth that I know of”. Sean, Uganda.
“Working with Trócaire opens the door to exciting opportunities and challenges on an almost daily basis. The energy, commitment and friendly nature of all my colleagues makes it an inspiring place to work”. Maria, Maynooth.
“I was working with a few hundred children recently in Kabul. These children were engaged in all sorts of activities – juggling, drama, art, cycling, music playing and radio production. The aim of this work is to draw children into a cycle of peace and normal childhood experiences in such an oppressed society. I was proud to be a part of Trócaire’s work, we facilitate such joy and life among such children. We have a chance of being involved in great things, simple things, things that change hearts and minds”. Paul, Islamabad.
“I am fortunate to have the privilege to work for an organisation that does such great work, to work alongside a great bunch of people and to feel that what I do is worthwhile and makes a difference”. Ann, Maynooth
“I like working in Trócaire because every day we change somebody’s world”. Eoin, Maynooth.
