There is something wonderful about a gift of a goat that provides food and milk to feed a family and generates a small income.
Even more wonderful is the fact that this goat initiative is part of a local peace process, promoted by the leaders of three ethnic groups, to help bring divided communities together.
The offspring from your goat will be passed to another family so the goodness of your gift lasts for generations.
How your gift will change people's lives
Wycliffe Simiyu (18) and his two brothers lost their parents to HIV. They are under the care of their grandmother, Zippiral (53), and great grandmother, Lustine (67).
Trying to survive with no source of income crippled the family. That was until a person in Ireland bought a Global Gift goat.
“Life was hard, we suffered very much,” says Wycliffe.
“We had to look for work so we could live day to day and continue our education. It was a very big problem.”
The family received Global Gift goats, giving them food, an income and an education.
“We sell the milk and save bit by bit to pay school fees and we can pay bus fare to get to school. I work hard, I really do,” says Wycliffe, who has reached third year in high school.
