Your generosity has allowed us to save lives across east Africa. Thanks to the donations received from the Irish public, we've been able to target 450,000 people for life-saving aid during the current food crisis. 

The response to our emergency appeal has allowed us achieve the following:

• 450,000 people have been targeted for live-saving interventions; 
• In Kenya and Ethiopia a total of 249,000 people are participating in cash and food for work activities to meet their immediate food and nutrition requirements;
• An additional 36,000 people are being registered for food and cash voucher interventions in Kenya and Ethiopia;
• 24,000 Somalis are receiving food assistance each month;
• 16,800 people in Somalia have been given water vouchers which allow them access clean water;
• Drought-tolerant seeds will be distributed to 10,000 families over the coming weeks in preparation for the October - December rains;
• Health clinic in Dollow, Somalia, has been expanded to treat 4,000 people each month;
• Trócaire-trained birth attendants safely deliver 300 babies each month in an area where there are no doctors;
• Our 12 nutrition centres in Somalia are being expanded to accommodate the 400% increase in admission rates since January;
• As well as delivering food, our projects are building water pipes, farm terracing, dams and irrigation systems in east Africa.

We're working in Kenya, Ethiopia and Somalia to make sure that your donations are going directly to the people who need it most. With your support, we will be there for the long haul, saving lives throughout east Africa.
