This educational resource is called 'Climate Change: A Call for Stewardship and Global Solidarity'. It is aimed at post-primary CSPE students in the Republic of Ireland and in the North will link in with Local and Global Citizenship.

The 8 skills based lesson plans contained in this interactive online resource will help students develop a deeper understanding of environmental sustainability and ensure a knowledgeable and reflective approach to their action project. Each activity has an accompanying slide or slides to support the teacher as they carry out the lesson.

This resource is designed for 3rd to 6th class pupils/ Primary 4 to 7.  It examines the drought in east Africa, focusing on the causes and effects of the drought in Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia.

The interactive whiteboard activities and image slide show offer opportunities for students to develop critical thinking, empathy and communication skills.

Accompanying worksheets include questions and activities encouraging students to be active citizens by ‘Speaking Up and Speaking Out’ about east Africa.

This Climate Change case study explores the life of Nangiro, a boy from Kenya. Nangiro’s story can be used with all age groups.

This resource has been designed specifically for teachers and students of CSPE and Citizenship, looking at the concepts of Interdependence and Stewardship. It has a particular focus on action and skills and will set out clear steps in order to take action on climate change and illustrate how it is impacting on people in the developing world. Activities and case studies included will facilitate the students to develop a deeper understanding of the issue which will ensure a knowledgeable and reflective approach to action.
