We work with amazing people to bring about positive and lasting change in some of the world's poorest places.
Our promise to you
As well as helping those in need in the developing world, we have important obligations to our supporters here in Ireland. In return for your commitment to our work we make this commitment to you.
You are entitled to:
- Information concerning the projects which Trócaire supports
- Confidentiality and a choice as to whether you wish to receive further information from Trócaire in the future
You can be assured that, as a charity supported by voluntary public donations Trócaire will always:
- Prepare fully audited accounts which are available to you for inspection, in accordance with the Statement of Recommended Practice for Charities.
- Keep administrative and fundraising costs to a minimum (e.g. an average of less than 4% of income for administration, and 5% of income for fundraising over the past three years).
Trócaire's Commitment to Standards in Fundraising Practice
Trócaire is fully committed to achieving the standards contained within the Statement of Guiding Principles for Fundraising.
The statement was developed by the ICTR (Irish Charities Tax Research Ltd.) and exists to provide charities in Ireland with a Fundraising Code of Practice.
The purpose of the statement is to:
- Improve the way charities in Ireland raise their funds
- Promote high levels of accountability and transparency by organisations fundraising from the public
- Provide clarity and assurances to donors and prospective donors about the organisations they support.

Trócaire believes we meet the standards the Code of Practice sets out.
Trócaire will maximise the value of your donation by:
- Seeking matching funding from official bodies such as the Irish government and the European Union (in this way Trócaire can add up to 55 cent to your €1 donation)
- Availing of tax concessions provided to charities in order to increase the value of your donation.
In relation to Emergency Appeals:
- Administration costs will be covered from General Administration and not from Emergency Funds.
- Funds will be utilised as speedily as possible.
- If for any reason, such as high-risk security situations, it is not possible to expend all funds received in the particular emergency within a reasonable period, Trócaire will devote any remaining funds to tackling poverty in other areas of great need. When this occurs it will be highlighted in the Annual Report.
